太简单了,一句话是定义啊,但是给的内涵太少了,不够看啊
素啊,,“The definition of ecociticism in the preface is accepted as a widely used and most suitable definition in explaining the connotations of ecocriticism:
The study of the relationship between literature and the physical environment.
So naturally the connotation of simple life consists of the following two parts: materially-simple life and spiritually-rich life (Lin, 2011:37).
Firstly, Thoreau advocates a materially-simple life which undoubtedly is simplicity in the material world. Thoreau limited his living into the necessary matters: clothing, shelter, food, and fuel.
Secondly, Thoreau also advocates the spiritual progress in Walden—inward spiritual and psychological exploration, just as the lives of philosophers. “The ancient philosophers, Chinese, Hindoo, Persian, and Greek, were a class than which none has been poorer in outward riches, none so rich in inward” (Thoreau , 2010:187). Actually, what Thoreau explores is similar to things philosophers do.
